Description

October 11 marks the third annual International Day of the Girl, a United Nations designated holiday to recognize girls’ and women’s rights around the world. It’s a day when activist groups come together under the same goal to highlight, discuss, and take action to advance rights and opportunities for girls everywhere.

In celebration of this year International Day of the Girl, Intel in conjunction with CoderDojo, CoderDojo Girls and TOG Dublin are hosting “Galileo Girls” in DCU on the 11th of October at 10am. The event will be for girls between the ages of 12-18. We will be hosting short, concise workshops which will give the girls a brief insight into the basics of coding and programming.

There is the option to either do the morning session which will give the girls a brief insight into coding or the full day (lunch will be provided) where the girls will get to put what they learned into action, and have the opportunity to make something with what they learned. This could be a fashionable wearable technology, a funky robot or they could power their social media through the Galileo board!

Location

The event will take place above the canteen, so you will need to enter from the rear of the canteen. This access will be from the back road in DCU between the back of the Heilx and the President's Office.

Directions to DCU can be found on the How to get to DCU page of DCU's website. If travelling by car you should park in the multistory car park, which is clearly signposted and opposite the Helix. More information on parking can be found on DCU website’s Parking page.

Once on the campus, here is a map so you can find your way around.
